Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The regulations are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the player has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced players are able to select the most money-making machine each instance.
As soon as the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, a few styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
