Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are able to select the most profitable ones every instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their wins, in which instance another round is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
